WEEK 4- Daniel and the Lions Den, the Courage to Stand For Your Faith

Week 4- Daniel and the Lions Den, the Courage to Stand For Your Faith

March 23 – Daniel 6:1-28

Request: Lord, show us the courage Daniel had.  We live in a day and age that despises you and mocks you.  Often, we find ourselves in situations where we have to stand for our faith.  Give the Holy courage to do so. Lord, help us be bold and practice our faith whenever and however you’re leading us.  Help us not be caught up by who’s watching or what they may say. Help us stand courageously for you.

Read: Daniel 6:1-28; the big picture overview of Daniel. Daniel 6:1-15; Daniel is the target, but he doesn’t stop

Record: Record a key verse.

Respond: Write a prayer responding to God about the verse you just read.  Let’s not just pick a verse and move on.  Let’s interact with God about it.

Questions to Ponder:  How hard or easy is it for you to share your faith? Have you ever been persecuted for your faith?

My Ponder:

No shame or judgment here. I think it takes all kinds of us to share our faith in all kinds of ways.  I’m a little more reserved. I’m not an evangelist by any means,  I don’t typically walk up to someone on the street and tell them Jesus loves them.  Although I admire the people who do.  I do, at times, wish I was more bold.

I don’t think I’ve been persecuted for my faith. I’ve been teased and challenged at times, but in those moments, I’m so grateful that God gave me the courage to stand for my faith.

My Verse:  Daniel 6:10, “When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously.”

My Response: Lord, I want to be so bold that no matter the circumstance, I will praise you openly and publicly.  Help me not be shy or quiet when it comes to matters of faith and sharing publicly.  Lord, thank you that even while Daniel was being targeted he didn’t stop worshipping you.  Thank you that the king made every effort to save him. If I’m ever put in a situation where I’m being targeted for my faith, please provide people around me who want to help.

My verse: Daniel 6:26a “I decree that everyone throughout my kingdom should tremble with fear before the God of Daniel …”

My response: Daniel lived out his faith and people trembled at God. Father! Help my life to point people to You. Just like Daniel’s life caused King Darius to praise You …
