“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are
from of old, from ancient times.” Micah 5:2 (NIV)
Small
You, oh Lord Most High,
must love the small.
You came small.
A tiny baby, helpless and vulnerable.
Born in a small town,
from a small clan,
to a small, unknown girl,
in a small space where animals slept.
Yet, from small beginnings
stepped forth the One who would save the world,
whose origins … are from beyond old
and time itself.
I am small,
yet so very loved by You.
And so, this Christmas,
I celebrate You
who are so very BIG,
who came for us who are so very
small.
