Seeking Jesus Day Twenty-Six – Mark 13:21-37

The coming of Jesus will be momentous. This second half of Chapter 13 is filled with powerful imagery. No one will miss the Son of God when He appears at His second coming. Let’s re-read verses 24-26:

“At that time, after the anguish of those days,

the sun will be darkened,
the moon will give no light,
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds with great power and glory.”

Oh this fills me with great awe and dread. I can’t imagine the sun and moon and stars disappearing on us! The very powers in the heavens will be shaken. And yet, as this startling and unprecedented scene unfolds, Who comes with it? Jesus – in all His power and glory! And that fills me with longing and desire for that glorious day! We may not understand all of what Jesus described perfectly, but I do know this. Let’s be ready. Let’s be watching. Let’s have hearts that yearn for Him so that when He comes, we can greet Him with arms raised and hearts wide open. Let’s watch for Him!

My recorded verse: Mark 13:33 “And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert!”

My response: Lord, I don’t know. I’m not smart enough to even guess. Just keep me close and keep me ready for Your return, should it happen in my lifetime. Please help my children and their children and the children after them to also be ready for Your eventual and sure return.
