We use a simple method of devotional Bible Study. Before you read Sharon’s commentary, follow these steps to meeting with God yourself through His Word:

  1. Request. Start with prayer. Ask God to help you understand the passage and focus on what He has to say to you through it.
  2. Read. Read through the passage assigned once or twice. Read it and look for the one verse that stands out to you.
  3. Record. Literally write out that verse in your journal. The act of writing solidifies the verse in your mind and helps you remember it throughout the day. It also slows you down so that you focus on each word in that verse. Lastly, it gives you a record of what God taught you each day of the study.
  4. Respond. Last step is to write a little prayer to the Lord, responding to whatever He has shown you.

After you’ve met with God yourself, feel free to read Sharon’s commentary and discover which verse she chose and what her response to the Lord was. We’d love to have you comment and share your own discoveries if you wish! Let’s learn together, shall we?
