Dear Lord God, we come before You in worship and praise, for You are the orchestrator of Your creation. Be with us as we spend time with You, and guide us to what You want to show us.
It’s fascinating to me how many times in the Bible, Peter and John are together, and … Peter does all the talking. Or at least all the talking that was written down. Was John … an introvert? Shy? That doesn’t seem to quite fit with the “Sons of Thunder” nickname he and James received. However, here is John, along with Peter, looking intently at the beggar, being clung to by said beggar, and yet being part of yet another miracle. What a JOY to read this and see Jesus at work in the disciples! What an amazing time it must have been for John, filled now with the Holy Spirit and daily watching God draw more and more people toward the salvation Jesus obtained for them. Even after Jesus was gone, the miraculous and marvelous continued, and John was a witness to it all.
My verse: Acts 3:4, “Peter and John looked at him intently, and Peter said, ‘Look at us!’”
My response: Father God, I confess that I too often look away from beggars – those haggard men standing with the cardboard signs at stop lights in the city. And here were John and Peter stopping, noticing, engaging. Show me what You would have me do, Lord when next I cross the path of someone who scares me a bit by their vast differentness. Give me kindness and help me to treat them with the dignity all humans should be granted. Help me to see them through Your eyes.
