October 31-  Revelation 22

Dear Lord God, we come before You in worship and praise, for You are the orchestrator of Your creation.  Be with us as we spend time with You, and guide us to what You want to show us.

Can you imagine the encouragement these words were to a beleaguered church suffering heavy persecution? John was given a glimpse of the end of the story – and it was (and is) very, very good. The suffering Christians of John’s day could encourage each other with these prophetic words, knowing that Jesus would make all things right … soon. Now, from the vantage point of thousands of years later, that “soon” word seems misplaced. But I’ve come to believe that each generation should be aware that He is coming soon and live like that. We should share our faith while there is still time for others to turn toward Him. We should look past our suffering to the glorious day when it will come to an end, and joy will come instead. This gives us bright hope and the ability to do the work He’s called us to do.

Do you hear in John’s last words a bit of yearning? John had only had his dear Lord with him physically for three short years. And he lived a long time after that. To see Jesus in this vision and to know that Jesus would come soon must have given John the courage to face exile on a rocky, lonely island with great hope and expectation for what would come after. May God give us that same bright hope. For truly, Jesus is coming … soon!

My verse: Revelation 22:17, “The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come.’ Let anyone who hears this say, ‘Come.’ Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.”

My response: Thank You. Your invitation is open to “anyone” who has ears to hear Your call. You quench our spiritual thirst and pour into us the fountain of life – lavishly and eternally. Oh, Lord Jesus, Come!

Yes, He is the orchestrator of our lives! I share and care with prayer and keep faith, hope and love, showing and telling others about Jesus. I have endured longsuffering, which I have realized recently, at age 67. God gives me great hope as He has taught me Jesus is coming soon1

Dear Lord, I love you. Please forgive me of my sins and help me to forgive others. Thank You for everything and everyone in my life that you have provided me. I ask you to meet my needs and hoping I will receive a positive letter in the mail tomorrow. In Jesus’ name, Amen
