March 8 – Choose Your Own Passage
For your quiet time, choose your own passage that relates to what we have studied this week. Did God put on your heart a certain passage that stuck with you? Did a particular Question to Ponder lead you to a passage that was not included in our readings?
When the Spirit leads, share your verse and response in the comments.

I always do a Scripture Union reading each day, along with our online study or any other study I might be doing. Scripture Union takes you through the OT once and the NT twice every 6 years – a pace that I can maintain. Anyway, Deuteronomy is where I happen to be, and the verses could not have been more relevant to our study on Holy Courage. I love it when God does that!
My verses: Deuteronomy 1:32-33 “But even after all he [God] did, you refused to trust the LORD your God, who goes before you looking for the best places to camp, guiding you with a pillar of fire by night and a pillar of cloud by day.”
Father, it’s easy to shake my head and think, how could the Israelites doubt You, after the plagues of Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea, and the daily reminder of Your Presence in the pillars of cloud and fire. And yet, I too easily forget Who You are when I’m in a crisis. Their lack of courage to go in and take the land promised … their fear of the “giants” in the land … cost a whole generation a good life in the Promised Land. Instead they wandered aimlessly in the wilderness. There are sad consequences when we do not exhibit the courage You ask from us. Please, Lord, give me holy courage when it is required. Thank You for the reminder of what happens when we don’t obey.
