Lesson:  He Regenerates

Dear Lord, bless our time with you today.  Meet us where we are at, guide our minds, and hold our hearts as we search for Your truth.

First, do your own quiet time with God and 4R journaling.  When you are complete, come back here for the lesson.

Read John 3:1-21

Respond to God

What does that mean, to regenerate?  To make something new!  When the Spirit convicts us of our sins we realize that we desperately need Jesus and need Him to save us from our sins.  We are born again! Our physical lives were born into sin and disconnected from the very God who made us. But our spiritual birth, births us into grace and salvation! We are given the promise of reuniting with our Savior at long last!

This regeneration is an awakening that must proceed faith.  And in order to have faith in what we have not yet seen, we must have the Spirit within us working!  This new regeneration creates a shift in our desire; we want less of what we once did, and we start to desire Jesus more and more.  The more we know Him and allow His mercies to wash over us the more we chase after Him more fervently.

But, is it enough just to believe? I mean, even Satan knows that God exists.  Well, it depends on what kind of belief one has.  Does one simply believe (know) that God exists or does one believe (and accept) and allow that regeneration? Belief is the first step to regeneration, the ground work has been laid.  It’s that transformative and convicting belief that brings us to Salvation Himself.

1 John 5:1 says that those who believe have been saved… not will be saved.  And then in Acts 16:14 Paul says that God calls to us, gives us eyes to see Him!  What a gift!  Take a moment to read Romans 3:9-20.  What a mess we were before our hearts were opened to Him, how lost we were!  We had no desire for God to control or reign in any part of our lives.  But after that regeneration, we desire that so much we don’t want to loosen our grip on His hem!  He makes us alive!!!

Are you running?  Is God calling you and you are resisting? Are you running with such might that you feel your legs will crumble beneath you?

Are you running?  Are you running towards Him with such splendor and in such wonder that your lungs might burst at the exertion?

You are not alone.   The Spirit of conviction, the Spirit of belief is within you and He can never be out run, He can never tire.  God is calling you, Little Lamb, with open arms.  Run to the Father and fall into His grace.  Find rest.  You are not alone.

Dear Heavenly Father, we praise You for You alone are Truth. You alone are life.  We thank You, we thank You, we thank You for calling our names.  And we honor You with our lives.

My verse: “Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.”

My response: It is impossible to be birthed into Your family without the Spirit doing His work inside me, because You literally come in and dwell within me, Lord! You are that close. I’m in awe. Such a glorious mystery. How I thank You for Your nearness.
