March 25 – Daniel 6:24-28
Request: Lord, you are a God of justice and will not be mocked. You will defend and protect those who love you. The courage we need to stand for you can only come from you, and we ask that you would provide it every time we need it.
Read: Daniel 6: 24-28; God’s Justice and Glory
Record: Record a key verse.
Respond: Write a prayer responding to God about the verse you just read. Let’s not just pick a verse and move on. Let’s interact with God about it.
Question to Ponder: Did anything surprise you about the end of this story?
My Ponder:
I was surprised that the king threw the conspirators and their families into the lion’s den. I had never realized that before.
My Verse: Daniel 6:26-27, “I make a decree, that in all my royal dominion people are to tremble and fear before the God of Daniel, for he is the living God, enduring forever; his kingdom shall never be destroyed, and his dominion shall be to the end. He delivers and rescues; he works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, he who has saved Daniel from the power of the lions.”
My Response: Lord, thank you that we can trust you and proclaim boldly how powerful you are. You never fail. You are worthy of all our praise!

My Ponder: Bonnie’s comments about the throwing of the conspirators and their families to the lions made me focus on that verse, today.
My verse: Daniel 6:24 “Then the king gave orders to arrest the men who had maliciously accused Daniel. He had them thrown into the lion’s den, along with their wives and children. The lions leaped on them and tore them apart before they even hit the floor of the den.”
My response: I learn two lessons from this horrible story. First, these were real lions with genuine appetites. Daniel’s survival was truly miraculous. Second, it’s a sobering truth in all generations that a bad parent’s evil decisions will hurt their families – not just themselves. Our actions effect our closest dear ones. Oh Father, help me to watch my words, my anger, my pettiness, my own sinful inclinations and bring them to You for help! For I, too, can hurt the ones I love the most through my sinful behaviors. Thank You Lord for this sobering reminder that our own life choices will effect those we love the most. I want to be good, Lord. Help me, please.
