March 24 – Daniel 6:16-23

Request: Lord, thank you that you take what the devil means for harm and use it for your glory. Show us that truth as we read through Daniel and use it to fill us with the Holy Courage it takes to stand for you.  You will deliver us and protect us from those that mean us harm.

Read: Daniel 6:16-23; Daniel and the Miracle

Record: Record a key verse and then write what was a new piece of the story to you?

Respond: Write a prayer responding to God about the verse you just read.  Let’s not just pick a verse and move on.  Let’s interact with God about it.

Question to Ponder:  Have you seen God protect you in a situation in which you’ve had to be bold about your faith?

My Ponder:

I can’t say I have a specific time I’ve seen God protect me when standing for my faith, but I believe He has, and I just haven’t known it.  Our world is full of things that contradict and challenge our faith.  I hope that if the situation arises that I need to stand courageously, I pray I will and trust God will protect me.

My Verse: Daniel 6:22, “My God sent his angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me, because I was found blameless before him; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm.”

My Response: Lord, I pray that I would be found innocent like Daniel in the face of persecution.  Our current times require us as believers to stand for you, and I want to be bold and stand for my faith.

My verse: Daniel 6:16 “So at last the king gave orders for Daniel to be arrested and thrown into the den of lions. The king said to him, ‘May your God, whom you serve so faithfully, rescue you.”

My response: I love that this secular king admired Daniel’s faithfulness to You, Lord! Daniel served King Darius so well. He was respectful and faithful to this earthly king in all he did. So, Darius was not jealous of You, Lord, but intrigued. In awe of You already – the God for Whom Daniel would die rather than deny. Oh God, You are my God. Help me to die before I ever deny You!
