March 12 – 1 Samuel 17: 52-58

Request: Lord, when the circumstance wants to distract me or swallow me whole, remind me of your provision and victory.

Read: 1 Samuel 17: 52-58; the victory

Record: Record a key verse and then write anything that stands out to you.

Respond: Write a prayer responding to God about the verse you just read.  Let’s not just pick a verse and move on.  Let’s interact with God about it.

Question to Ponder: In what ways does your limited thinking keep you from trusting God?

My Ponder:

Sometimes, my limited thinking can keep me from seeing all the possibilities God can have and use in my circumstances.  I naturally want to default to what seems like the laws of reason. But God is so much bigger than that.  I need a Holy courage that sees beyond the circumstance to the victory.

My Verse: 1 Samuel 17:52, “And the men of Israel and Judah rose with a shout and pursued the Philistines as far as Gath and the gates of Ekron, so that the wounded Philistines fell on the way from Shaaraim as far as Gath and Ekron.”

My Response: Lord, I never want my lack of belief to limit you in my life and circumstances.  I want to believe you in a way that blows my socks off and makes me stand in awe.  Help me be bold in my circumstances to know that you will be victorious.  All I need to do is keep my eyes on you.  Always on you.

My verse: 1 Samuel 17:57 “As soon as David returned from killing Goliath, Abner brought him to Saul with the Philistine’s head still in his hand.”

My response: David honored Saul as the king, right from the beginning of their relationship. He was respectful despite the fact that the king of Israel had not fought the giant but cowered like the rest of his army!! Father, David’s humility is so refreshing. His lack of political manipulations and selfishness shines through in this story. Give me that kind of outlook on life. Transparent living – focused on pleasing You, contented to do Your will each and every day.
