June 9. 2 Chronicles 5:1-14; 6:1-11
Happy Sunday, friend. Oh, what a perfect passage to read today! I love the triumph and the joy as they all assemble together to celebrate the amazing feat of a completed, really glorious, temple. It was to stand for 410 years before its destruction when Babylon invaded Jerusalem. I am so glad it stood for so long! We will actually study more of this temple dedication next weekend on Saturday. The moving words, the praise and adoration, were all too beautiful to skip. So, enjoy part one of this two part glimpse into the fulfillment of David’s dream made reality by his son – to build a temple to honor the God he loved so much!
My verse: 2 Chronicles 5:13 “the trumpeters and singers joined in unison, as with one voice, to give praise and thanks to the LORD. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, they raised their voices in praise to the LORD and sang: ‘He is good; his love endures forever.’ Then the temple of the LORD was filled with a cloud.”
My response: Father, what a glorious verse to read this Sunday morning, as I prepare to go to church and lift my voice in praise to You with my beloved church family! OH, the JOY of praise. Oh, the excitement and awe of that dedication day: a magnificent building made in Your honor, the careful transport of the ark, and then the holy mystery of the great cloud, signifying Your Presence. There was a time in Israel’s troubled history when there was peace on all sides and with “one voice” Your people worshiped You! I’m smiling just thinking about it. And I am looking forward to the day when all Your people will worship You before Your great heavenly throne. I can’t wait to add my voice to the multitudes, Lord, on that day.
