CHRISTMAS DAY – John 1:1-14
Good morning (or afternoon or evening!) and Merry Christmas, dear one. Some people light a fifth candle on Christmas morning. Ours is always white and put in the middle of our wreath, symbolizing the light and purity of Christ. It’s actually called “Christ’s candle.” Our Crosswalk.com guide tells us: “This candle is white to represent pure light and victory.”
As you reflected on the Word made flesh today in your reading, I hope the awe in John’s account inspired you. “We beheld His glory” proclaims John, eyewitness to the Messiah. “He walked among us” says John with confidence. This God we serve put on flesh. And before Jesus was born … He was. In fact, He was there at the very beginning of our world. He is Son of God and yet, in the mystery of the Trinity, He was also one with God, choosing to give you and me life and breath and the opportunity to be loved by Love Himself. Hallelujah!
My verse: John 1:5 “The light shines in the darkness and the darkness can never extinguish it.”
My response: I love all the lights at Christmas, Lord Jesus. They point to You. Without You, I’d be lost, stumbling through a dark and chaotic meaningless and violent world. But you came to bring light and truth. You came to set me free – to set all who believe free! OH the JOY! And … happy human birthday, Lord Jesus. Merry Christmas.
5 Minute Selah Moment – pray for those with whom you “Christmas’d.” Blessings, intercessions, whatever their needs.
