December 21 – 2 Thessalonians 2

Jesus, our Savior King, we praise You for You are Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace!!!! We thank You for You secure our peace! We fall before You in worship and adoration. Draw near to us, Lord of all.

This ought to be how we encourage others; there are some powerful truths here! Let’s take a look at what I made a note of in my own quiet time with God.

We are beloved by the Lord
God chose us as first fruits to be saved
We are saved through sanctification by the Spirit of belief in truth
We will obtain the glory of our Lord
Will are to stand firm and hold on to truth
We are given eternal comfort and hope through grace

These truths, these facts, we must hold onto because our days of ease are fleeting, and hard days are coming. The false one is sure to come because God has said it will be so. We do not know the day nor the time, but we do know it has been in the works for a long, long time. As we look back to Jesus’ birth… we must also look forward to what is to come. With Jesus’ promised birth came the promise of His return and the destruction of the earth as we know it now. His love is not all feel good and lovey. It is also judgment and justice.

We first fruits must be sanctified. We must be ready. God tells us the end times are coming. So, hold onto these truths listed above so that we will not be shaken. Hold onto His promises when the lawless one, the son of destruction, comes to deceive and destroy. Let us not hold onto the past while neglecting to look to the future and prepare. Let us not become idle and complacent. There is a war raging. There will be a time when the restraints are loosed, and the deceiver is allowed to wreak havoc. Are we ready?

This Christmas season, as we remember and celebrate the birth of our Savior, let us remember He is not a baby. He does not stay in that manger. He lives. He fights. He roars like a lion. For our sake, He came for us so that we may have restoration in Him.

My Verse: “Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.” 1 Thessalonians 2:16-17

My Response: Great Defender, I praise You! You have given us hope of salvation. Though the evil one will be loosed upon us, You, O Lord, have ensured our safety, our salvation, our rescue. The evil one cannot steal what is not his, for we are Yours. God of Moses, God of our deliverance, we wait for You.

  • Sharon’s Morning Thoughts: A good and sobering reminder, today, that the battle still wages for the souls of men. May we shine brightly in a darkening world, pointing to the God who saves! I loved the prayer of blessing at the end of this passage. Ray and I pray a blessing over our grandchildren each time we see them. Because we live far away, we only see them a couple of times a year. This blessing is SO rich … we may use it this time along with our own words as we bless each precious child!! ❤

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 “Now may our Lord Jesus himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.” ❤

Father, as we spend the next 15 days with our children and grandchildren, would you do this for me and Ray, please? Strengthen us in every good thing we do and say. Enable us to bring Your comfort and love to our dear ones.”
