December 10. Day Fourteen

Advent

December 10 – Hebrews 11:1-16

Faith. We are ending this week on the study of the Christian attribute of faith right where we began. Hebrews 11:6 defines faith for us, but the whole chapter is full of examples of faith. If you have time, go back and read the full chapter. Note how not everyone who believed saw the fulfillment of promises in this life on earth, yet they died confident that there’s a world beyond this one, and all will be made right someday. Oh, in these dark winter days leading toward Christmas, let’s hold on to faith that Jesus truly is the Light of the World and there will come a time when the darkness will be totally defeated by the Light!

My verse: Hebrews 11:6 “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek Him.”

My response: So logical. If we’re seeking you, Lord, and coming to You … even if our faith seems pathetic to us – we must have some faith or we wouldn’t come! I am so thankful that You enable us to believe. You call to us to ask and seek and knock, and You reward us with Your love and open arms – enfolding us into Your great big Abba-embrace. I rejoice in being Yours today, Lord.

5 Minute Selah Moment – just put your dear head back for a moment, and whisper “I love You” to the One who made you. After all, that is the greatest commandment: Love Him. Tell Him.
