Greetings and Merry Christmas dear ones! I’m typing this and wondering when you’ve managed to get apart and be with the Lord on this wonderful day. Did you get up before the children and enjoy a few moments of quiet with Him before the crazy began? Are you just now reading this, weary (but hopefully in a happy sort of way) after a busy day? In any case … we’d love to know what God showed you as you opened His Word today. Comment below.
My verse: Luke 4:16 “When He came to the village of Nazareth, His boyhood home, He went as usual to the synagogue on the sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures.”
My response: I love this simple affirmation that Jesus honored the Sabbath day! He worshiped at synagogue each week, just as we attend church weekly to this day. He may have been angry when people misinterpreted the Sabbath, but He didn’t overturn the whole concept of a day set apart for worship and rest. And how wonderful that His declaration of His mission should be read in Nazareth, His own hometown! Jesus knew His mission and assignment and declared it willingly.
Lord, thank You that You came to set captives free!! On this, Christmas Day, I praise You for that and thank You, as a former captive, for my freedom. IN Your Name, Lord, Amen.
