He Came For Our Sake Bible Study

Welcome to our Advent 2024 Bible Study.

All you will need for it is a Bible, a journal, and a pen.

You can print your daily lessons here or find them as you scroll below. Our method is a simple one.

Request – Always start with a prayer, asking God to open your eyes and heart to His Word as you read.

Read – Read through the passage assigned for the day a couple of times.

Record – Write down a verse from the passage that particularly intrigued, puzzled, or delighted you. When you write out a verse, you remember it better.

Respond – Write a short prayer, responding to the Lord about the verse. You might thank Him for what you learned or question Him, if it confused you. It’s “polite” to respond to someone when they speak. God speaks in the Bible. This is our chance to respond, through prayer.

After you’ve done your lesson, then click on the day’s commentary, written by Melissa. Read through her thoughts, and ponder the scripture reading one more time. If you wish, share your verse and response in the Comments section.

Introduction
When one must write an Advent study, there is immense pressure to do it differently, do it artistically, obscurely, from a new perspective … you get the idea. Why? Because Advent studies have been done for hundreds of years, I am sure, and everyone has one they have written, right? Just search ‘advent Bible study’ in your web browser, and you will come up with, well … my own search brought up 5,120,000 different possibilities. Wow! And yet, here I am, needing to write one more. It is almost like how every music artist makes a Christmas album, right?

So, yeah, there was a lot of pressure to make this study unique and not just another advent study. But as I chose which verses to use and then 4R’d my way through them, I realized I was again making it about me. And while advent is about me … and you … it is not the reason for it. It is about worship.

And so, I share with you my 4Ring through Advent. There are no frills, no artistic turns of phrases, no views from the animal points of view, and no storytelling. Just writings from my quiet time with God, just me and Him.

May God bless you greatly this Christmas season. May He remind you that this season is not just a season; it is for a lifetime, for eternity, for His glory … for our rescue. He came for you; Jesus left His kingdom, His throne room, and His seat beside God and came for you. You are His mission, you are who He wants to rescue. And He does it with all the love that He is.

May the grace of Jesus, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all,

Melissa
