DAY SEVEN – Joshua 2. Write out your verse and comments below, friends!
Today, we look at the second woman mentioned in Jesus’ genealogy and she, too, is a strong woman with a strange story! Hope God spoke to you as you pondered the passage, this morning. Here are my thoughts:
My verse: Joshua 2:11 “No wonder our hearts have melted in fear! No one has the courage to fight after hearing such things. For the LORD your God is the Supreme God of the heavens above and the earth below.”
What an amazing declaration of belief coming from a woman trapped in an awful place, where child sacrifice and ritual prostitution were common and life for women was hard. Who knows what horrors Rahab had endured? Yet she’d heard the stories of a God who was FOR His people, and she believed.
Lord, there’s so much more I’d love to know. What was Rahab’s back story? How did she and Salmon meet and marry? Was Boaz her joy after a time of intense sorrow? Thank You for all of Scripture, Lord, showing me real slices of history from ancient times. Thank You for sparing Rahab, brave and bold woman, who declared her faith in You, the Supreme God.
