Write out your verse and comments below, friends. We’d love to read what God has shown you, today!
Job is one of the oldest books of the Bible. This particular chapter is my favorite in the whole book. Why? Because in the midst of intense suffering, that Job knows God has allowed, he still looks to God. And somehow (how, I wonder how?) Job knows there will be a Redeemer. It’s awe-inspiring. Here’s what I chose for a verse and here’s my response. Can’t wait to read yours.
Job 19:27 “I will see Him for myself. Yes, I will see Him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!”
Oh Father God. The one thing Job clings to, despite his raging, aching woundedness, is that someday he will see You, dear Lord, his Redeemer. This is what steadies him! Despite the fact that Job believed You to be responsible for all his woes, Job still yearned for the day when the Redeemer would stand upon the earth at last. Oh Father, where else can we go? You bring to us everlasting life and hope. You alone redeem. Help me, Lord, to always run to you even in times of intense suffering. “I know that my Redeemer lives!”
