June 26. Ecclesiastes 4.
How are you doing? I hope you have been steadfast in meeting with the Lord each day. I hope that if you haven’t been … you are at least MORE steadfast because of this study! Grace, dear friend. Keep trying. Also, it’s time to start thinking about what is next in your personal study. Don’t stop just because this study is over. Choose a book of the Bible and study it on your own using the 4R method you have followed in this study. Or, find a good devotional book and determine to start it June 29th, keeping the good habit of meeting with Jesus each day!
My verse: Ecclesiastes 4;13 “Better a poor but wise youth than an old but foolish king who no longer knows how to take warning.”
My response: Lord, is it possible that Solomon was speaking of himself here? How lost he must have been when his spiritual eyes lost sight of their north star – YOU. How hopeless life must seem when someone abandons truth and embraces false gods. I am so sad for this man who had so much going for him and yet turned away. He had YOU, Lord, and he chose lesser things. It reminds me of Jeremiah 2:13. Solomon had living water and he chose, instead, to drink from “broken cisterns that can’t hold water.” No wonder he was depressed. Without You, Lord, everything is meaningless.
